CTRs, made of blue or clear PMMA
The Capsular Tension Ring ( CTR ) assists the cataract surgeon in placing and centering an intraocular lens.
Intraocular lenses are artificial lenses implanted to restore vision when the natural lens is removed
during cataract surgery.
The CTR is manufactured in the US out of Blue or Clear PMMA and available in
5 different sizes from 11.00mm. to 14.00mm.size

Implantation
The CTRs offer high flexibility, high memory control and are easy to insert by
the surgeon, either manually or with any available CTR injector.
Implantation
Effective
CTRs appear to be an effective device for improving the outcome of complicated
cataract surgery in eyes with zonular weakness. Implanting a CTR during the
phacoemulsification procedure may reduce:
Intra operative zonular separation
Bag subluxation
Posterior capsular rupture
Vitreous loss
Lens drop into the vitreous
Postoperative benefits
Use of the CTR also increases the success rate of in-the-bag IOL implantation.
Postoperative benefits of CTR include:

Improved IOL centration
Less IOL tilt
Less capsular contraction
Less anterior and posterior capsular opacity formation

Indications
Advantages:
Size ( 5 )  - Available in either blue or clear PMMA
The CTR is used for patients who have weakened or missing zonules ( thin tissue fibers that hold the lens in place )
and provides additional support to the capsular bag that surrounds the eye’s lens.
